The Government of Canada and the Yukon announced a bilateral agreement to expand access, affordable and inclusive ELCC programs and services in the territory.

Ottawa agreed to contribute $41.6 million over five years to ensure that an average of $10 per day ELCC is available for children under six. The agreement included the creation of 110 new ELCC spaces within five years and a $30 an hour minimum wage for fully qualified ECEs.

Premier Sandy Silver highlighted how much this agreement would enhance the first universal affordable childcare program that was announced in Yukon earlier this year. A link to the news release can be found here.
